His father was the Diwan of Porbandar. Mother Putlibai was a religious woman. Due to lack of economy, his childhood was spent with great pride. You were married to Kasturba as a teenager. At the age of seventeen, he went to England to study. By this time his father had died.

There it could not bear the atrocities committed by Indians on the Indians and fought for their rights themselves and inspired them to fight. Now they got involved in the task of making the country independent. He established his ashram at Sabarmati. In the ashram, he tried to end caste system spread in Hindu religion by honoring people of all religions and castes.

It is our good fortune that such a great soul was born on the land of India. It was India's misfortune that after independence, the country of India got divided into two sections. Gandhiji drowned in the ocean of sorrow, but it was also sad that on 30 January 1948 when Gandhiji was going to a prayer meeting, a killer Nathuram Godse shot and killed him. Bapu gave up his life by saying 'Hey Ram'.

Today we are free because of Bapu. He was the one who lit the flame of love, unity, brotherhood and non-violence in the country. It is our duty to not let that flame be extinguished, this will be our true tribute to the Father of the Nation.
